Reel numbers are series totals from Instagram across all 19 reels, rounded. Per-reel numbers didn’t survive, so this page compares series, never single reels.
19 reels and 10 graphics from TREND’s feed while I was on the team. The reels are mine; the graphics ran alongside them, and several credit other photographers, so they’re here for context. Tap any piece to swap it onto the big player, or open it full screen. The shoot has its own magazine.

Week 8 Fits
Reel · Campus Culture series (300K views across the series)
Ride the biggest weekend of the year: the outfit prep the night before, then what everyone actually wore.
The Night Before Sun God
Reel · Interviews, BTS & Aesthetic series (42K views across the series)
The one week everyone dresses up on purpose, so we went out and asked about it.
Halloween Costume Interviews

Get people to TREND’s own events: count down to the fashion show, tease the games, recap the launch party, post the weekly lineup.
Fashion Show Countdown
Reel · Trend-Based series (124K views across the series)
A running spotlight on the small things people were wearing around campus that week.

Sort the four series by whatever you care about, click one to watch it, see which series punched above its weight, then open up the only two posts with full Insights. Spoiler: the series with the most views isn’t the one people saved most.
Views: Every play across the series, repeats included. Average across the four series: 133K.

Campus Culture
Now playing: Week 8 Fits
Why it works: Everyone watches to see if they or their friends made it in. Real students in spots you walk past every day makes it feel like campus, not an ad, so people send it straight to whoever’s in it.
Four series, 19 reels. Which ones did more than their share of the work? Switch the metric and the order changes.
Grey bar = the series’ share of the 19 reels. Coloured bar = its share of all 533K views. Sorted by who punched furthest above their weight.

Reels only ever came with series totals. Two posts came with everything: the TRENDing carousels on fur and on bag charms, three weeks apart. Same series, same format, very different lives. Spin the slides, then read the Insights.

(1)
People want to see their own campus
56%
of all views came from Campus Culture, just 6 of the 19 reels
Fit checks and interviews with real UCSD students, in places people walk past every day. Nothing else came close.
(2)
Fits get sent to friends
2.3K
shares on Campus Culture, more than the other three series put together (1.6K)
A share means someone thought of one specific person. Seeing your friend in a TREND reel does that better than anything.
(3)
Smaller audience, bigger fans
2.1%
save rate on Interviews, BTS & Aesthetic, the best of the four, and the best like rate too (4.5%)
The fewest views of any series, but the people who found it kept it. That’s the audience that shows up to the next shoot.
(4)
Event promos stay in the room
0.6%
share rate on Promotional & Events, the lowest of the four
Promos are made for people who are already coming, and the numbers look like it: they didn’t travel far past them. The big reach had to come from the other series.
(5)
Useful gets shared, pretty gets liked
33 vs 0
shares on TRENDing: Bag Charms vs TRENDing: Fur, 3 weeks apart, same series and format (saves 21 vs 5)
Fur coats are something to look at. Bag charms are something you can copy by Friday. People forward the one they can use.
(6)
A good carousel is recruitment
49.4%
of Bag Charms’ 4,425 accounts reached didn’t follow TREND yet (2,186 people). Explore sent 216; Fur got 4 from Explore
It also drove 158 profile visits, about 3× Fur’s. When a post travels, it brings people back to the account.
Not everything was reels. I built TREND’s Instagram Stories strategy and helped promote the annual fashion show, which is where all of this ends up: people in the room, in the clothes.
